FADE IN:
INT. AN APARTMENT –
BEDROOM - NIGHT
We can see a boy
browsing through a list of songs on Spotify. The house was bombarded with the
voice of Alex Turner, coming from two
large speakers in the room. The boy could not seem to find any song to play. He
walked to the door of the room and shouted,
BOY
Hey! Know any recent, great song?
Secretly meaning to ask
what she wanted to listen to.
IN THE KITCHEN
GIRL
Pardon?
BACK TO THE ROOM’S
DOOR
BOY
What song is in right now? I don’t know any new
song!
Still could not
admit what he really meant to ask.
The girl walked into
the room. The music was so loud
that everyone else in that apartment building without choice had to listen to
it too.
IN THE ROOM
GIRL
Any song?
BOY
Yes. What do you want to listen to, baby?
Finally asking it. They
shifted their focus to the PC. And browsed through the list of songs. Together.
GIRL
Oh ha! This one! This one! (excitedly)
The boy chuckled and
clicked on the chosen song. The girl looked at the boy’s face and grinned. Her
head was up to something. She pulled the boy’s hand to the living room.
THE LIVING ROOM
The girl switched off
the living room’s light. The only source of light was from the kitchen. The
girl put her right hand on the boy’s shoulder. Facing each other. Her other
hand held the boy’s right hand. Automatically, the boy gripped her waist and
bring her closer to him. They looked at each other’s faces and laughed. Both of
their feet moved swiftly to the rhythm of that beautiful song. They were slow
dancing. In truth, neither actually knew how to dance but they kept on moving.
Both were drowned in their own thoughts as they danced along to the music.
The girl rested her
head on the boy’s shoulder. In the dark,
she almost cried. Yes, her dream to dance to this song finally became a reality.
But that hurt her more because she was dancing with the boy that could never be
hers. Ever. The boy held her closer, stroking his hand on the girl’s head.
Trying to soothe her. The boy then pulled her face up. They looked into each
other’s eyes and he slowly kissed her. It was a long kiss. Tears ran down the
girl’s cheeks. He wiped the tears away and kissed her cheek. The boy smiled and
looked into the girl’s eyes, to see if she was allright. The girl forced a
smile, trying to assure him that she was fine. But the boy knew she was lying. We
all knew that she was not fine.
The music stopped. They both laughed loudly, realizing
that they just slow danced despite their awkward, stiff bodies. They seemed to
have really enjoyed themselves though.
Because of this, deep in the boy’s heart, he was filled with guilt to
someone faraway and also to this girl in front of him. As for the girl, we all
knew that her heart was still crying. And it will keep on crying.
